Travis Scott Sued by Yacht Crew Over Alleged 2024 Miami Yacht Brawl
Rapper Travis Scott is back in the headlines. But this time it isn’t for his chart-topping music. The “Sicko Mode” star is officially facing a brand-new civil lawsuit. It was filed by the crew of a luxury charter yacht. They allege that Scott turned their boat into a “violent nightmare” during an incident in Miami in June 2024.
While the initial criminal charges against him were famously dropped. The yacht’s staff are now seeking financial compensation for what they describe as a terrifying, drunken assault.
What Led to the Alleged Altercation?
According to court documents originally obtained by TMZ, the drama began on June 19, 2024. Scott chartered the 105-foot luxury vessel, Carpe Diem, for a cruise around Miami with several guests.
The lawsuit, also detailed by Music-News.com, alleges that the atmosphere soured. When yacht captain Adrian Frometa refused to let an intoxicated Scott operate the vessel’s jet skis. Things allegedly escalated from there:
-
The Departure and Return: Scott allegedly ordered the captain to dock the boat, then left for about 30 minutes, returning in an even more aggressive state.
-
The Physical Assault: When the captain decided to terminate the charter early due to Scott’s behavior, the rapper allegedly struck Frometa from behind with a closed fist to his neck and upper chest.
-
The Death Threats: The suit claims Scott repeatedly screamed at Frometa, telling him he was “dead” and threatening to kill him.
- The Crew Barricaded: As additional staff members intervened, Scott reportedly shoved crew members, knocking one to the ground. Crew members John Steve Holguin and Mirnesa Hasanovic claim they had to barricade themselves inside the yacht’s cabin, holding a glass door shut while Scott tried to force his way in.
From Dropped Criminal Charges to Civil Lawsuit
This civil suit is a direct continuation of Scott’s highly publicized arrest at the Miami Beach Marina. This happened in June 2024, when bodycam footage of a heavily intoxicated Scott went viral. At the time, he was booked for disorderly intoxication and trespassing.
However, by August 2024, Florida prosecutors officially dismissed all criminal charges against him. Now, the crew is taking matters into their own hands, suing civilly for assault, battery, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Travis Scott’s Legal Team Responds
Scott’s legal representation has wasted no time firing back. Prominent defense attorney Bradford Cohen, who represented Scott during the criminal case, released an official statement to XXL Mag slamming the lawsuit:
“We are currently not representing Mr. Scott on this frivolous civil lawsuit. We clearly beat all the criminal charges filed against Mr. Scott that evening because they had no basis in law or fact… This case is nothing more than an attempt at a money grab, and I believe they will not be successful.”
Cohen also hinted that Scott’s civil legal team could pursue counter-suing the captain, crew, and yacht owners for breach of contract.
What They are Seeking
The plaintiffs—consisting of captain Adrian Frometa and charter managers John Steve Holguin and Mirnesa Hasanovic—are seeking unspecified financial damages. They also cite Scott’s decision to sell merchandise featuring his mugshot from the arrest as proof that he “made light of the incident and the harm caused” to the working crew.
As of now, Scott’s representatives have not released an official comment regarding the newly filed civil complaint.
