Barbie (real name Onika Tanya Maraj) took to social media to make the announcement that she will be getting the award named after Michael Jackson.

The MTV Video Vanguard Award is very special and is presented to artists and music video directors with significant contributions to pop culture.

And we all know she is definitely worthy of this award.

Among her many accolades, the 39-year-old rapper/singer/songwriter/actress has accumulated quite a lot of awards.

By winning this award, Minaj becomes only the second rapper to make this achievement.

The first was the ‘Supa Dupa Fly’ Missy Elliott.

And it will add another trophy to her already bulging shelf of accolades, including 17 MTV Music Awards in her career.
