R&B Singer Jesse Powell Died Of Cardiac Arrest
Jesse Powell is dead.
According to his family, the R&B crooner from the ’90s died one day after his 51st birthday.
Although the cause of death was not immediately revealed, reports indicate that he died at his home of cardiac arrest.
A social media post by his sister Tamera confirmed the news.
Asking for privacy as her family grieves, she posted on Instagram –
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle Jesse Powell. Jesse loved music and he especially loved his fans who supported him throughout his career. We want you all to know that you meant the world to him.”
The Gary Indiana-born singer and songwriter, who had a four-octave vocal range, released his first album back in 1996.
Genres he covered include R&B, jazz, and blues.
His efforts and moderate success in the mid to late ’90s started to take off with his 1998 hit song, You.
That song climbed the charts to reach the #2 spot on Billboard‘s R&B charts.
After that, his second album, Bout It went certified gold.
Upon the release of his 4th album in 2003, Powell would go on to retire.
Jesse Powell was the older brother to R&B singers Trina and Tamera.
He was 51 years old.
