Set in the mythical realm of Orïsha, where magic once flowed freely through ten distinct guilds of maji, the story centers on Zélie Adebola.

A decade prior to the events of the film, the ruthless King Saran ordered the brutal slaughter of all practicing maji during the infamous Raid, leaving Zélie without her mother and stripping an entire realm of its spiritual power.
