Famous Fashion Designer Kate Spade Commits Suicide
Famous fashion designer Kate Spade committed suicide on June 5, 2018. Kate Spade was born December 24, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri. After earning her degree in journalism, she went to work for Mademoiselle magazine in New York City. She would spend five years at Mademoiselle. She became senior fashion editor and head of accessories. Kate left the magazine in 1991. She decided to design her own line of accessories which include her famous hand bags.
Kate became so successful that her accessories were sold in major department stores including Bloomingdale’s, Sak Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and a lot of other retail chains. Kate wrote three books, Manners, Occasions and Style.
None of her family or friends thought she would take her own life. Kate keep her depression and anxiety a secret from the public. Only her family and close friends were aware of her battle with anxiety and depression.
It is so unfortunate that someone with her kind of success would kill themselves. The sad truth is many Americans suffer with some sort of mental disorder. In fact, death by suicide are at a all time high. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. Each year 44,965 Americans die by suicide. Suicide costs the US $69 billion annually.
