Cardi B Becomes First Female Rapper With Two Diamond Singles!!!
Cardi B manages to stay in the media. And, this time it is because of her phenomenal impact on rap music. Whether you agree with Cardi’s style of rap or not, you can’t deny she is a great entertainer.
What Is Diamond Record Status?
For a girl from the Bronx what Cardi has done is amazing. Cardi announced on Twitter that she has made Diamond status again. Cardi’s collaboration with Maroon 5,” Girls Like You” gives her 10 million records sold.
This makes Cardi the first female rapper to have more than one diamond record, as reported by Black Enterprise. The other song by Cardi that gave her the honor is “Bodak Yellow.” The song off of her debut album went certified diamond. This feat took her to the history books.
On November 29, 2021, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) bestowed Cardi with the honor. Cardi is the third female entertainer who has reached diamond status record sales. Katy Perry has 3 and Lady Gaga has 2 diamond singles. Check out what Adam Levin of Maroon 5 said about Cardi’s great accomplishment,
“She was in the honeymoon period of her moment. She was just beginning to be that female artist that everybody was talking about, and I thought it was an important thing for her to be involved. I knew she would have an interesting take on what was being said, and she would do it in a way that you wouldn’t necessarily have thought of.”
