He has entered the business world and entrepreneurship in a bold move that has surprised many of Katt’s fans. Known for his daring and fearless style, Katt has taken his unique humor to new heights, pushing boundaries.
Along with going against the status quo and creating another lane for actors. This film studio will be in Alabama and will have state-of-the-art studios, as stated by Black Enterprise.
In an interview with GQ, Katt allegedly revealed his plans to acquire the former military base. Some say Katt is following in Tyler Perry’s footsteps.
As we all know, Tyler purchased Fort McPherson’s Confederate army base in Atlanta, Georgia.
Tyler transformed it into a major movie studio with 330 acres of pristine offices and studios. Also, Tyler honored some iconic African American entertainers such as, Sydney Portier, and Cicely Tyson.
In addition, Tyler honored Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry, Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, and Whoopi Goldberg.
Furthermore, he created studios for Diahann Carroll, Ossie Davis, and Ruby Dee. As if that wasn’t enough, Tyler honored Harry Belafonte and rapper Will Smith.
Never before has there been a studio represented by African Americans for iconic Black entertainers. However, Tyler wanted to show his appreciation to all those who paved the way.
It appears that Katt Williams has the same idea in mind. Or at least, Katt intends to fill the void with his new project.
Katt mentioned,
“It’s just not fair to put all that pressure on Tyler Perry,” he said. “He can only do so much.”
Katt has some ideas related to theatre arts. This is not the first time an entertainer has purchased space in the South.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has rented space in Shreveport, Louisana, for film studios. Although Fifty’s studios have run into a view snag, things are moving forward.
Will Katt’s entry cause competition for Tyler and Fifty? Or is there enough space in the genre for everyone to promote TV and movies?
Only time will tell how things will work out. At the very least, there should be more acting jobs for people of color.
