Why the Zodiac Sign You Claim, is Wrong.

A Stargazing couple.

There is no right or wrong zodiac sign to have. In reality, sun signs are influenced by moon signs, ascendants, planetary placement, and all manner of cosmology that make you, uniquely you. However, if your zodiac orientation is in western astrology, the sign you associate yourself with has been wrong for quite some time. By quite some time, what is implied is generations. The simple explanation is: celestial bodies move. They are not stationary. As they move, so do the dates that zodiac signs are associated with. They are not fixed nor permanent. You may have grown up thinking that these are the proper signs according to each date:

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

These dates and corresponding zodiac signs were right at some point in time, but time has shifted these around. According to sidereal astrology, the following are the correct star signs:

Capricorn: Jan 20 – Feb 16.

Aquarius: Feb 16 – March 11.

Pisces: March 11 – April 18.

Aries: April 18 – May 13.

Taurus: May 13 – June 21.

Gemini: June 21 – July 20.

Cancer: July 20 – Aug 10.

Leo: Aug 10 – Sept 16.

Western Astrology v. Sidereal Astrology

Unfortunately, oftentimes western studies like history, astrology, medicine et. al can be bastardized studies, missing significant parts. Western astrology makes zodiac signs rigid and immoveable which is literally impossible seeing that these are nothing more than names for clusters of stars. Chinese, Vedic, Mayan,  and Aztec astrology and all ancient forms of ancient astrology use sidereal calculations that account for star and planetary movement. For this article, we will use Vedic astrology as an example of a system that uses sidereal astrology calculation methods so as to avoid confusion and wordiness.

Vedic Astrology: An example of Sidereal Astrology

In Vedic astrology, planetary and lunar movements are considered, whereas Western attitudes only consider a person’s date of birth to forecast various events of their life. Among the major differences between Vedic and Western astrology is that one uses the fixed zodiac while the other uses the movable zodiac. The western zodiac uses the tropical Zodiac, which considers the earth to be the center and the celestial bodies to revolve around it. The vernal equinox marks the point when the Sun returns to earth after completing its complete circle around it (from the point of view of the earth). In a vernal equinox, the sun is overhead the line that separates the earth into two equal halves (the equator). Equinox is a time when day and night have equal length. It usually occurs on March 22 each year. That is when the western zodiac begins with the first sign, Aries, and then continues with the other signs.

Sidereal Astrology  is more accurate

Aries of Western Astrology keeps drifting farther away from Aries of Vedic Astrology due to this phenomenon at a rate of 1 degree every 72 years. During the past 2000 years, this difference has risen to almost 24 degrees.  Due to the planetary movements shifting, the Universe expanding, and nothing remaining still, Vedic Astrology is viewed as more rational. There are similarities in interpretation and symbolism of signs and planets in both systems, but Vedic Astrology does have more detailed calculations and methods involved and is, therefore, more reliable.

Why The Zodiac Sign You Claim is Wrong

In contrast to Western astrology, Vedic astrology relies on more accurate astronomical principles.  Also, Vedic Astrology considers the Moon sign preeminent over the Sun sign. The Sun changes signs about every four weeks, while the Moon changes signs every two and a half days, which makes Moon-based predictions more reliable and honest since our circumstances and moods change frequently. Western astrology uses more general methods and tools of prognostication than Vedic Astrology, which makes it less reliable.

Ancient Egypt used Sidereal astrology

In ancient cultures like Egypt, Persia, Vedic, and Mayan, the sidereal system was always relied upon as a model. According to them, this is more accurate since it is based on a direct relationship between the time of birth and the natural world, rather than a theoretical position based on earthly seasons. The Sidereal Zodiac and Whole-Sign House systems are the oldest known systems of astrology. Consider changing your tattoo if you have the wrong zodiac sign permanently etched into your skin.
