Mariah Carey and Beyonce’ Knowles-Carter are some of the best-selling artists of all time. The divas have realized superstardom as a result of raw beauty talent and work ethic. What would a collaboration between the dynamic diva duo look like?
We have good reason to believe that the two would be a formula for success. Before a Nicki Minaj and Beyonce’ collaboration happened, no one thought Nicki Minaj could sing next to Beyonce’ however, they were wrong. “Feelin’ Myself by Nicki Minaj Featuring Beyonce’ proved that not only could Nicki sing on a track with a singer like Beyonce’ but that Beyonce could keep up rapping with Nicki Minaj, the highest paid female rapper of all time.
The musical combination did not end there. They showed us again that their talents are fluid when it comes to singing and rapping. In a near ventriloquist twist of events, Beyonce’ tried her hand as a rapper accompanied by Minaj on stage receiving such an overwhelming response that the women had to check their earpieces for functionality.
Mariah Carey received similar pushback when it came to singing with “The Voice,” otherwise known as the late Whitney Houston. The public expected for one to out-sing the other in a catty battle of the fittest. Their harmonies were such perfection that many fans could not distinguish one’s voice from the other in their rendition of The Prince of Egypt’s When you Believe. Fans all but studied the bridge of the song repeatedly. Trying to determine which voice belonged to whom. The two switched back and forth in their harmonies regarding who would sing the low or high note. See if you can spot the difference:
This brings us back to the musical range of Mariah and Beyonce’. The women could give us anything from a belted R & B ballad, to a pop genre anthem. When Mariah Carey tried her hand at making music with Beyonce’s husband, Shawn ” Jay-Z” Carter this happened:
The seasoned, singing, songwriting, superstars still have so much to offer to the world of music. We can expect any collaboration between the two, to be on par with their usual massive, success.
