Tyler, The Creator Hits The Top Of Billboard Hot 200 Chart With “Call Me If You Get Lost”
With the tally up to July 1st, Call Me If You Get Lost sold 169,000 units. Adding to this feat, the new entry marks his 6th time in the Top 10. After his first No. 1 on this chart, “Igor” in 2019, Tyler once again gets bragging rights on top of the heap.
As described on Billboard.com, the Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale.
Call Me was released on June 25 as a 15-track standard digital download album or a 16-track deluxe digital and streaming edition. So which edition is the best choice? Fans get a welcome surprise depending on their method of purchase. Choosing to buy the 16-track deluxe digital and streaming edition, a bonus track titled “Safari” is added. But, if you chose to purchase the 16-track physical edition on CD or cassette, you get a different bonus track, titled “Fishtail”.
Of the total album units sold of Call Me, 5000 were digital downloads, 10,00 were cassettes and 40,000 were CDs.
But, it looks like Tyler, The Creator had some other tricks up his sleeve. As it was only available exclusively on his website, the CD and cassette (priced at $25) it sold out within 24 hours. Available a la carte, as well as in four limited-edition deluxe box sets. No word on if additional units will be available, via the website or other retailers. If you managed to scoop up a box set via the website, you also got a shirt and poster.
Although the sales of Call Me were great, Billboard reports it would have made the #1 ranking with just the streaming sales alone.
Congrats Tyler, The Creator!
