Twitter is launching today to test a completely new version of TweetDeck. The company claims that the new TweetDeck interface looks similar to the one currently available on Twitter’s web site.
Twitter was the first to confirm that it intends to overhaul Tweetdeck. Kayvon Beykpour, chief product officer at Twitter, stated at the time:
And we haven’t given TweetDeck a lot of love recently. That’s about to change; we’ve been working on a pretty big overhaul from the ground up of TweetDeck, and it’s something that we’re excited to share publicly sometime this year. And so that’s just an example of a Twitter-owned and operated service that we will continue investing in.
Twitter now has our first glimpse at the new TweetDeck design. It is definitely different. This design is being tested first by the company with a small group of randomly selected people in the US, Canada, and Australia.
It features a column-based layout that integrates many of the features previously offered on Twitter’s website and in Twitter native apps for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The “Explore” tab has trending topics and something called “Decks”. We will have to wait until we get this new design.
The new design will be available to eligible users, but it will not be available to all users at once. Do you see the new TweetDeck design in your account?
Starting today, we’re rolling out a preview of the new & improved version of TweetDeck to a limited number of accounts, with enhanced functionality that incorporates more of what you see on https://t.co/8FModRv1sl. pic.twitter.com/rX0WhSKgmI
