After Dell and Sonya Curry filed for divorce, the situation took a turn for the worst with Steph Curry’s parents accusing each other of cheating.
The Currys: Divorcing After 33 Years of Marriage
Sonya Curry, the longtime wife of a former NBA player as well as the mother of two current NBA players, announced in June that she filed for divorce from Dell. The individually successful parents of three children released a statement to People, confirming their divergent paths after 33 years of marriage:
“We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes! We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and prayer for our family as we move forward.”
Accusations Are hurled Back and Forth Creating a Media Spectacle
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Dell claims Sonya cheated on him with a former New England Patriots tight end. He maintains that she was dishonest about it. Steve Johnson, who was a 6th-round pick of the 1988 NFL Draft, has been dating Sonya according to Dell.
Also claimed in the court documents, another allegation against Sonya saying she “began her extramarital affair with Mr. Johnson during the marriage and prior to the date of separation, and she lied to [Dell] each time she cheated on him.”
Dell v. Sonya: Both Alleging that the Other Cheated
Dell claims Sonya is cohabitating with Johnson in the state of Tennessee and that for this reason, she should not receive alimony. Sonya shot back stating that in reality, she lives alone considering that Dell refuses to allow her inside of their home.
Additionally, Sonya has denied allegations of infidelity on her part. She is in a relationship she entered into “months after” her and Dell’s legal separation in March of 2020.
Dell is slammed as the real cheater in Sonya and Dell’s marriage. It is alleged that he cheated so much that family and friends are very much aware of his extramarital escapades.
