RHOP’s Candiace Dillard Bassett is Making Good Music

Published

on

Candiace Dillard Bassett has changed so much since fans first met her in season three of The Real Housewives of Potomac. She married Chris Bassett after joining the show, has appeared on Netflix’s Family Reunion series, and is now in the midst of launching an exciting music career.

It’s Giving Very Much Kelly Rowland

With over 50K views on YouTube, the singer’s new music video for “Drive Back,” a song from her upcoming album, has finally been released. The video is giving us Tamia vibes while her singing style is reminiscent of Kelly Rowland.

Housewives Cashing in on Music Careers

Bassett is not the first real housewife in the franchise to release music. She joins the list of other housewives who have done the same including Porsha Williams, Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Kenya Moore, and even her arch-nemesis, the beautifully talented, Monique Samuels.

Candiace and that Mouth!

Candiace by far is not exactly the most beloved housewife of her franchise but all of that is subject to change with this new music career. The music is showing us a softer more palatable side of the housewife who wished death on a journalist from the LGBTQ+iA community who died shortly thereafter.

Candiace is Growing and We love to See It!

Bassett was particularly challenged by season five, with the main plot of the season being her fallout with former housewife Monique Samuels.

“I really was able to use the tumult of last season and put it into my music in this season of my life. I’m excited for you guys to see me go to the studio, writing…we shot two music videos in one week!” says a gleeful Candiace to TheGrio.

Come On Candiace!

The music video for “Drive Back,” released on July 18, features Candiace getting frustrated when her romantic partner flirts with a waitress near her.

The former beauty queen sings and dances her way through her frustrations in the video one of her castmates referred to as “low budget”. Hey Mia!

The video ends with appearances from fellow housewives Gizelle Bryant, Robyn Dixon, Karen Huger, Mia Thornton, Wendy Osefo, and a “friend of the show” who is quickly becoming a fan favorite, Askale Davis.

Candiace Remains at Odds with Bombshell Co-star Ashley Darby

Ashley Darby, who has clashed with Bassett on several occasions in the past, is noticeably absent from the music video. The two entered the show as true peers with Ashley Darby beating Candiace to the status of motherhood not once, but twice with two beautiful boys.

The Real Housewives of Potomac airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
