Mike Tyson Featured In Documentary, Mike Tyson: The Knockout
Arguably the most feared man in the ring during his heyday. But quite frankly, many would still be intimidated to stand face-to-face with Mike Tyson in a boxing ring. Or outside of one, for sure.
ABC describes the new documentary about the “The Baddest Man On The Planet” as a look through the lens of a boxing legend that –
…will put viewers ringside for a main event that will chronicle the former champion’s climb, crash and comeback, from his difficult childhood to becoming undisputed world champion to his 1992 rape conviction and his personal struggles…
Expect to have all corners of the life of this great boxer covered in this special, including his –
- being bullied as a child
- times in and out of juvenile detention
- impact by his trainer/mentor Cus D’Amato
- marriage to Robin Givens, and their divorce
- infamous 1988 interview with Barbara Walters
- domestic abuse allegations made by his wife
- excess partying
- shocking loss to B42-1 underdog Buster Douglas
- 1992 rape conviction and prison time
- biting off Evander Holyfield’s ear
- addiction to cocaine
- death of his daughter, Exodus
Mike Tyson is now a middle-aged man, but his life story is no less polarizing to hear. Also expect to hear interviews from the likes of Rosie Perez, former trainers, Mike Spinks, Buster Douglas, and many more…including Mike Tyson himself.
Executive Producer Geoffrey Fletcher says of the project –
“In addition to being an inspiring story of the perseverance and hard-won growth of one extraordinary person, Mike Tyson’s life and career are also relevant to the important collective self-reflection finally occurring in America,”
