The Yeezy shoes Walmart is selling really look like the original. And, people are buying them like hotcakes.
Did Walmart know they were selling fakes?
Can you believe Walmart didn’t know they were selling imitation Foam Runners? Whether Walmart was aware or not, Kanye issuing them.
A lawsuit against the retail giant was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. According to the documents, the California Unfair Competition Law was broken.
This particular law prohibits deceptive practices, as reported by Forbes. The lawsuit claims that Walmart could cost Kanye “hundreds of millions of dollars.”
Especially, since the Walmart imitation shoes are much cheaper than the real Foam Runners. In my opinion, the imitation shoe does look like the original.
I can see why Kanye is suing Walmart. Many people can’t afford the price of Yeezy’s Foam Runners. So, it makes sense to buy the less expensive pair.
However, will Walmart take a significant loss for selling them? People who have purchased the Foam Runners believed they were Kanye’s brand.
Even though, Walmart is not selling the shoes in their stores. The Foam Runners were sold on their website until they sold out.
Now, if you try to buy them you can’t. Walmart has taken down the advertisement. Instead, you will get a message saying “not in stock.”
Keep in mind, when Kanye introduced the Foam Runners in 2020 they sold for around $75. Today, the resale of the Foam Runner runs between $250 to $800.
Meanwhile, the imitations are selling for $25 to $35. Unfortunately, the Foam Runner mentioned in the complaint is sold through Walmart by third-party marketplace sellers.
A spokesperson from Walmart said, ” We take allegations like this seriously and are reviewing the claim. We will respond in court as appropriate after we have been served with the complaint.”
This may not turn out well for Walmart or the third-party who sold them.
