Jay Z and Rihanna give back in a big way
Jay Z and Rihanna give $2m for Coronavirus relief. In this turbulent time we are living in it is good to see the hip hop community give back. Jay has given $1 million from his Shawn Carter Foundation. And, Rihanna gave $1 million from Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation. The total combined amount from each other Jay and Rihanna’s foundation adds up to $2 million.
The money donated by both Jay and Rihanna will provide funds for frontline healthcare workers, as reported by XXL Mag. As we all know by now, there are a lot of nurses, doctors, CNA’s, janitors, police and fire personnel who are doing everything they can. The world as we know it has changed. We have never seen anything like this before. I for one, am so grateful for all of those on the frontline. The Coronavirus has devastated many people all over the world. I am glad that Jay and Rihanna have partnered to provide funds for those in need.
In addition, some of the $2 million will go to The American Civil Liberties Union and The Fund for Public Schools in New York. Jay’s mother, Gloria Carter who is the co-founder and CEO mentioned that this Coronavirus pandemic is an example of a time people need to unify. Gloria went on to say:
“In times of crisis it is imperative that we come together as one community to ensure that everyone, especially the most vulnerable, has access to critical needs: shelter, health, nutrition and education,”she offers in a statement.”The only way to get through this pandemic is with love and action.”
Now, who could disagree with what Jay’s mother, Gloria said. We must do all we can to help other less fortunate. What a great way to give back, Jay and Rihanna.
