Rapper Future lends his voice for relief in Haiti. After a devastating earthquake, help is on the way.
Future Reaching Out To Aid In The Recovery For Haiti
Haiti is recovering from a devastating earthquake that rocked the country earlier this month.
Unfortunately, the country has not recovered from the last earthquake that occurred just over a decade earlier.
According to several reports, this time around, over 2200 people were killed after the 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit.
344 people are still missing.
Future Joins Lizzo and Osaka In Expressing A Need To Do More
Several celebrities have stepped up to offer words of condolence, including Lizzo and Osaka.
Lizzo took to social media and uploaded a video, showing human suffering in several parts of the world.
Posting to her Twitter page, she wrote –
“The internet has brought the world together for better or worse. Right now there are people in peril. awareness is the first step. Here’s how to help.”
Adding the following hashtags and websites to her post (#Haiti hopeforhaiti.com, #Afghanistan womenforafghanwomen.org, and Turkey & Greece lp.panda.org/med-wildfires.
Tennis great Naomi Osaka, who is of Haitian descent, pledged a big donation. Offering her winnings from the Western & Southern Open, it will be a big help in the recovery efforts there. She states –
“Really hurts to see all the devastation that’s going on in Haiti, and I feel like we really can’t catch a break. I’m about to play a tournament this week and I’ll give all the prize money to relief efforts for Haiti. I know our ancestor’s blood is strong we’ll keep rising…”
Now, Future (also a Haitian-American) is taking to the stage to help out in a big way. The rapper announced that he will be offering a benefit concert to help those in need.
Set for September 3rd, the concert will take place in Miami at the Oasis Wynwood.
Tickets were available for purchase starting today, August 25th.
