Some of the biggest names in Rap got their start on “Rap City.”
Will These Five Rappers Appear Again On Rap City?
One of the most notable rappers who freestyled on Rap City was Sean”Jay -Z” Carter. So, he gets the number one spot. We all know that Jay was making a name for himself before Rap City. However, freestyling on the show was pure genius. Since then, Jay-Z has become one of the most sought out entertainers. Jay-Z’s rap career has provided him great success. Jay-Z is the first rapper to become a billionaire. Now, that is staying power.
Check out Jay Z rocking the mic. Jay toyed with those who were waiting to hear him, spitfire.
2 – Dwayne”Lil Wayne” Carter
Of course, I gave you a teaser with Jay-Z’s freestyle. If you want to see the rest of the freestyles click on the photo of each. You already know, Lil Wayne aka Weezy is one of the greatest rappers in the game. When Lil Wayne appeared on Rap City he was accompanied by his mentor Bryan”Birdman” Brooks. But Birdman and Lil Wayne parted ways years later.
3 – Clifford “T.I.” Harris Jr.
The self-proclaimed “King of The South” rapper killed this freestyle on Rap City. T.I. has been rocking the mic for more than 20 years. Not only can T.I. rap but he is quite the actor. T.I. has starred in one of my favorite movies “ATL.” In addition, T.I. has major roles in movies such as “Takers”, “American Gangsta”, “Identify Theft”, and Get Hard. Also, T.I. starred in his own reality TV shows (Road to Redemption) and (T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle).
4 – Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges
Ludacris freestyle was lethal. When Ludacris hits the mic it’s nothing but fire. His fast-paced rhythms are unmatched by many. And, just like T.I., Ludacris has become quite the actor. Ludacris had a role in the hit movie, “Crash”, which starred Sandra Bullock and Don Cheatle. Ludacris also starred in “Hustle & Flow”, Fast and the Furious,(2003,11,, 13, 15, 17, and 2021). Not to mention, his music career caused him to work with Missy Elliott, OutKast, LL Cool J, and Mariah Carey.
5 -John”Fabolous” Jackson
The Brooklyn-born rapper is underrated. Although, Fabolous has one of the smoothest deliveries in rap. Fabolous’s debut album “Ghetto Fabolous” was a hit. And, his collaboration with singer Lil Mo’s hit song “Superwoman” was a fan favorite. Fabolous hit song ‘Can’t Deny It” with Nate Dogg charted top 40 on the Hot 100 Billboard.
Certainly, throughout Rap City’s show other famous rappers freestyled. I can think of a few memorable performances in the basement. Rolling Stones writer Christopher Harris interview the previous hosts of Rap City, ( Hans”Prime” Dobson and Chris “The Mayor” Thomas) just to name a few. We may remember Darian”Big Tigger” Morgan and Lezly”Lez” Mackerel as the more popular host.
Here is some of what was discussed,
“We had a small room with a mini TV. Q-Tip was with the Jungle Brothers when we did these interviews. We had the Fat Boys, Kid ‘N Play, Eric B. – Rakim wasn’t there. We had MC Lyte.”
Almost everyone in the rap game appeared in the Rap City basement. The late Christopher“Notorious BIG” Wallace’s final interview was on Rap City. So, it is a great idea for the show to make a comeback.
