Will Smith Grammys Performance Canceled
Will Smith Canceled Grammys Performance. According to Questlove, the rapper turned actor was supposed to hit the stage this year.
Of course, his group mate DJ Jazzy Jeff landed a spot as a DJ. So, it was befitting to look for Smith. The Philly bred duo shook up the hip-hop charts in the eighties and nineties. And they delivered timeless hits like Summertime.
Well, The Fresh Prince couldn’t make it due to conflicting schedules. According to sources, he’s currently filming the fourth installment to the Bad Boys movie franchise.
Questlove confirmed to Variety:
“I’ll give the spoiler alert away. Will Smith was apart of the festivities tonight, but they started shooting ‘Bad Boys 4’ this week,” Questlove told Variety‘s Marc Malkin on the red carpet. “There were a lot of preliminary shots that he had to do, so we had to lose Will.”
He continued:
“There was a lot of legit reasons why we couldn’t be all inclusive of some people. In fact, the four-time Grammy winner noted that a few of the performers — including the Roots, Ice-T, Queen Latifah, and LL Cool J — all had to “leave their respective shows” in order to participate in this week’s festivities. Questlove added, “It’s going to be amazing.”
Importantly, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence made the announcement last week via Instagram.
“Bad boys for life baby.”
The two shared a laugh about BB4L being the third film’s name—eluding to that name not being through through.
Frankly, it’s disappointing that Smith couldn’t join Jazzy Jeff in the celebration of hip-hop. After all, he’s a huge part of hip-hop history.
However, we’re all looking forward to the next Bad Boys film. How many films do you think the franchise will see?
