NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neil is getting back to his rap game in new audio, “King Talk”
The Koko-produced song features Blackway and debuted on May 2.
Shaq lays down his bars atop an upbeat instrumental after the track kicks off with an electric verse by Blackway.
You can hear the audio below.
After his sabbatical from the mic, he isn’t losing a beat on this new song.
It’s been quite a while since the big man picked up the microphone, his most recent album was in 1998 with the release of his fourth studio album, Respect.
Here are some of the lyrics –
“They ain’t ever run it like this / They don’t get it jumping like this / Boy, I’m hot / Bow down and kiss the ring / My girl riding with the King, Coretta Scott…”
The four-time NBA champ still got it!
Adding to his rhyme, she raps –
“Sitting on my throne with luxury / I don’t need your company / ‘Cause I woke up and bought two companies.”
After first teasing the song after Lebron James became the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer, O’Neil now has this to say about the project –
“Koko and I have been sending beats back and forth for a minute now and after he played me this one, I knew I had to jump on it.
“I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment for a collab with Blackway and this was it. This is the type of record that gets me hyped like I’m walking out for Game 7 of the Finals.”
Adding to his comments, he states –
“The lyrics and vibe of this track was so perfect for the moment when LeBron James set the NBA scoring record and I knew I had to share it with the world — a king recognizes a king. It was crazy to see so many people connect with the song when they heard the teaser, just like I did when we created it.”
Regarded as the professional athlete with the most successful rap career, Shaquille delivered four successful rap albums in the ’90s.
This includes his debut Shaq Diesel, which went on to become platinum-certified.
And everybody remembers his appearance on “You Can’t Stop The Reign” with The Notorious B.I.G. in 1996.
