Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter entered the rap game over thirty years ago. Today, he’s recognized by many as a top 5-10 rapper of all time.
His lyrical skills, cadence, and Brooklyn swag have been the perfect combination throughout his illustrious career.
From the CD era of yesteryear to today’s digital era, Hov is insanely consistent. Of course, every outlet feels differently. Every person’s ranking will show a difference in opinion.
Rather you’re more appreciative of his debut album Reasonable Doubt, or 4:44, the hits don’t stop.
There are a plethora of discussions about who’s Hip-Hop’s best rapper ever. The reigning spot is always a toss-up between 2Pac, Biggie, Nas, and Jay-Z.
Certainly, each person plays a role in changing the game. How many rappers before Jigga were making music that sampled or had an alternative undertone? Not many.
The creation of his label Roc-A-Fella Records was a win in more ways than one. Creative control is one thing. Moreover, without Roc-A-Fella, do we have artists and producers such as Kanye West and Just Blaze?
Regardless, Jay-Z has indeed reached G.O.A.T status.
