Dr. Dre Global Impact Award Is Brand New Award Introduced At the 2023 Grammys
Dr. Dre is honored in his own name as he receives the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award.
He is the inaugural recipient of the 2023 Grammys.
LL Cool J introduces the brand new award, in coordination with the Black Music Collective, to Dre.
He announces that from this day forward, this award recognizes the contributions and creativity of professionals with a proven track record of uplifting black music.
This award is fitting to be named after Dre.
He is one of the most impactful artists of our time who helped to define west coast hip hop.
It occurs on the same night the Grammys celebrate the anniversary of 50 years of hip hop.
The 57-year-old phenom is a rapper, record producer and executive, actor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.
Dre – real name Andre Romell Young – is a hip-hop icon.
He already has seven Grammys under his belt in his multi-decade career.
Also, he is the founder and CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics.
Additionally, he was President, and co-founded and co-owned Death Row Records back in the day.
Well, now he has another great accolade to add to his list of accomplishments.
This good news comes on a great Grammy night.
We also see Beyonce break another record, and Viola Davis gets her EGOT status.
Additionally, the hip-hop tribute saw a multitude of acts come together.
Sharing the stage included multi-generational acts.
Among those include LL Cool J, Method Man, GloRilla, Salt and Pepa, Queen Latifah, Rev Run, and Flava Flav, just to name a few.
