Curren$y and Jermaine Dupree Link Up On ‘Essence Fest‘ From Their Upcoming Collaborative Album
Curren$y and Jermaine Dupree deliver new audio.
“Essence Fest“, the bounce-inspired new cut will appear on their upcoming collaborative album, ‘For Motivational Use Only‘.
This marks the first single off of the project.
41-year-old Curren$y – real name Shante Scott Franklin – manipulates the hearty backdrop that JD is effortlessly putting down.
While dropping bars, he covers a multitude of subjects, including sexual conquests, smoking sessions, and living a high lifestyle.

Fans are certainly here for the collision of these two music legends.
The duo’s collaborative album, titled ‘For Motivational Use Only‘ is a product born out of the obvious chemistry when JD and Curren$y first hooked up.
And it all began when Curren$y did a song named after the 50-year-old multi-talented So-So Def founder Jermaine Dupree.
JD says this about their union –
“That basically was the spark for us to just start communication, for us to just start talking. I was actually, I don’t want to even say flattered, I was floored, to the point that he made a song titled ‘Jermaine Dupri.’ So I was like, ‘Shit, this the first time anybody ever did that in my whole career,’ so the least I could do was try to work with him and make a record.”
Starting with just one song, their sessions grew until the thought occurred that they should do a full-fledged album.
Speaking on the project, here is what Curren$y has to say –
“Expect to receive what you need. It’s just more of a real pep talk and a call to arms for people who know that this is their time and people who want to launch businesses, girls who want to open whatever their business is, the homies who want to start their shit… This is the no-excuse soundtrack for whoever wants to get out and go get it.”
