Kanye West Doc Scheduled To Hit Netflix Next Month
Kanye West (who now calls himself Ye) is demanding to have the final say in his upcoming Netflix doc.
The project, titled Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, is a once-in-a-lifetime global event and follows Ye’s epic rise.
21 years in the making, the 3-part series will air over 3 weeks and will share unseen archival footage exploring Kanye’s –
- entire Hip Hop career
- Presidential run for the White House
- loss of his mom, Donda West
- many business ventures
- and much more
But Ye seems to be feeling some type of way about the piece.
Taking to social media, Kanye West posted –
“I’m gonna say this kindly for the last time…I must get final edit and approval on this doc before it releases to Netflix…open the edit room immediately so I can be in charge of my own image…Thank you in advance”
However, directors of Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah had this to say about the final cut of the doc –
“I said, ‘Dude, you have to trust me.’ And he did, 100 percent…”
“Mind you, when his team and the business-people have gotten involved, they’re of course going to have their say.”
“But I needed to tell this story…it’s not about making Kanye likeable or not. The footage doesn’t lie.”
“What makes the film special is that it’s not something definitive; it’s his journey through my vision.”
Reportedly, Netflix acquired the documentary for about $30 million dollars.
After its debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22rd, Jeen-Yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy is scheduled to drop on Netflix on February 16th.
