Lanez has made accusations against his former attorney this time, alleging ties to Roc Nation, a prominent entertainment company founded by Jay-Z. Daystar Peterson has been behind bars after being convicted of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion. He is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence.
Ever since his imprisonment, he has been filing appeals to be released. This time, Tory claims his former attorney, Shawn Holly, allegedly misrepresented him.
The complaint was filed with the State Bar of California. TMZ Hip Hop obtained the complaint against attorney Shawn Holly.
According to the complaint, Tory did not know that Shawn Holly had business ties with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
Shawn Holly was one of the principal producers of the Hulu series “Reasonable Doubt.” Therefore, her representing him was a conflict of interest.
As All Hip Hop stated, “Reasonable Doubt” was allegedly loosely based on her life as a celebrity attorney.
Accusations Against Ex-Attorney
Tory Lanez is fighting to get back the $200K he gave his former attorney, Shawn Holly. He claims that Shawn Holly quit representing him on December 18, 2022, five days before his trial.
In a surprising turn, Tory Lanez accuses her of having ties to Roc Nation. To Tory, it is clear Shawn Holly did not have his best interest at heart. To top it off, Tory claims she wanted him to take a plea.
However, Shawn Holly claims,
“Mr. Peterson brought these meritless claims to the State Bar over a year ago and they were summarily rejected and the matter was promptly closed,” Holley told TMZ. “His actions to publicize this failed effort are likely tied to the appeal of his criminal conviction, for which I wish him well.”
In this case, who is telling the truth, and who is not? It remains to be seen if Tory’s complaint has merit, especially since his other appeals have been denied.
Did attorney Shawn Holly sabotage Tory’s case? At this point, the ethics committee has not responded, so we have to wait for a decision. In the meantime, Tory is still serving his 10-year sentence.
