Tina Turner ‘The Queen Of Rock and Roll” Has Died
Born in Tennessee, Miss Anna Mae Bullock would go on to take the world by storm as the “Queen of Rock and Roll” Tina Turner.
Adored by so many, in the ’50s Turner first frequented nightclubs in St. Louis before her destiny would soon be revealed.
That’s where she met Ike Turner, who she would go on to marry and divorce after a tumultuous partnership.
After hearing her sing one night, Ike took her under his wing, giving her the role of lead vocalist in his band.
By 1960, the world would know her as Tina Turner.
They married in 1962 and went on to be massively successful well into the ’70s.
One of the most famous songs done by the Duo was “Proud Mary”.
The two divorced in 1978.
Tina would document in her biography, “I, Tina” she was a victim of domestic abuse at the hands of Ike Turner.
During their divorce, she asked for nothing but her name. She earned it.
After leaving Ike, with just .36 cents and a gas card in her pocket, she emerged as one of the greatest comeback stories in musical history.
Tina’s Legacy Shows Her Endurance Through Whatever Obstacle She Came Across
The American-born and naturalized Swiss singer, dancer, actress, and author has a slew of hit songs as a solo artist.
These include “Private Dancer”, “Simply The Best” and “What’s Love Got To Do With It”.
While Ike Turner is a big part of her life, he is hardly the essence of what her life was about.
Overcoming the odds, Miss Tina broke all expectations of what her life should have been.
A movie of her life story, “What’s Love Got To Do With It” has Angela Bassett famously portraying the energetic icon with fabulous legs.
In 2019, a Broadway Musical honoring her life debuted with Tina in attendance. She left with a huge smile on her face with fans applauding in approval.
Among her many awards, she was honored with 8 Grammy’s over the course of her career, including Record of the Year for “What’s Love Got To Do With It”.
A statement from Tina’s reps reads –
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
The Rock and Roll icon is a household name across the globe.
One of her dreams was to one day fill stadiums across the globe.
Well, she did that and so much more. She filled hearts!
Tina was battling some serious health issues for the past few years, including cancer and PTSD.
However, through it all, she always remained positive.
When she passed, she was 83 years old.
