Russell Simmons Faces Rape Allegations In New Lawsuit. Music mogul Russell Simmons has found himself embroiled in yet another controversy, as a new lawsuit has been filed against him, alleging rape. This is not the first time Simmons has faced such allegations, as several women came forward in 2017 accusing him of sexual misconduct. With this latest lawsuit, Simmons’s legal troubles seem far from over.

According to The Los Angeles Times,
“The complaint, filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, comes from an accuser — identified in the suit only as Jane Doe — who said she worked as a senior music executive at Def Jam. She alleges that she was “sexually harassed, assaulted, sexually battered, and raped” by Simmons during her time at the label.”
The plaintiff, whose identity has been kept confidential, alleges that the incident occurred in the 1990s.
According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe had visited Simmon’s Manhattan apartment several times. Because she was a music video producer, her visits were business-related.
She claims she had been at the apartment with no incidents up to that point. However, when Simmons allegedly visited her office, things “suddenly began to turn his rapacious attention” toward her.
Also, Jane Doe claims, ” Simmons would allegedly lean over her and make sexually suggestive and inappropriate comments.” “He also rubbed the front of his pants while in her office,” according to the lawsuit.
During one of the visits to Simmon’s apartment, Jane Doe alleges he took her to a bedroom to watch the rough cut of the music video. This was allegedly a common practice of Simmons to conduct business in his bedroom.
Furthermore,
“Simmons began jumping on the bed and requested that Doe have sex with him. She refused.“All of a sudden, Mr. Simmons performed a ‘wrestling move,’ climbing on top of Ms. Doe and pinning her arms down to the bed,” the lawsuit said.As Simmons allegedly repeated his requests for sex, Doe told him to stop and get off her multiple times, the suit said. He continued ignoring her refusals, and “proceeded to rape her.” Then Simmons went to a nearby bathroom, leaving the door open to discuss business matters with Doe before dismissing her back to the office.”
Jane Doe claims she quit her job at Def Jam in 1997. However, she allegedly struggled to continue working because of the trauma, as stated by Complex.
Despite these previous claims, Simmons has maintained his innocence throughout. However, with this new lawsuit now filed against him, how the legal battle will unfold remains to be seen.
