Dame Dash Explains How Jay-Z Cut Him Out Of The Rocafella Deal?!?!

Dame Dash Explains How Jay-Z Cut Him Out Of The Rocafella Deal?!?!

Dash talks about when he met Jay-Z and how their friendship grew into a brotherhood.  When Dash was asked a question about how him and Jay-Z’s friendship unraveled, Dash explained, Jay wanted more of the money.

Vibe.com gives a fairly good account of what appeared to happen between the two Hip Hop moguls.

While Jay-Z enjoyed his vacation, Damon Dash governed the expanding Roc-A-Fella empire. He made decisions without consulting Jay, but this was the natural course of events. Dame let Jay make the records, and Jay let Dame run the business. But Jay-Z’s relaxed Mediterranean summer was marred on more than one occasion by disturbing news from home.

Many artists in the music business did not sign physical contracts

In the earlier days of music, a lot of artists, managers, and friends in the business did not sign legal documents. Most relied on hand shakes ,verbal agreements or friendship thinking it would solidify deals made with each other. However, many were disappointed to find out that you could get shafted and be left with little to nothing. Great groups like New Edition, TLC, The Temptations, and countless other artists and groups found that not signing a legal binding contract left them all without music rights or royalties.

We have all seen the movies where artists allowed their managers to do their bidding only to find out that they got the short end of the stick, or in some cases no stick at all, so to speak. The 360 slave deal is explained in detail in a business editorial we posted on our website.

It sounds like Dash and Jay-Z made a similar deal with one another but Dash allegedly got the short end of the stick. Dash may have to let that experience with Jay-Z go, especially since it happened more than 15 years ago.
