Want to hear some good news?
Earlier this week, Fiddy – real name Curtis James Jackson, III – linked the Houston Rockets with his G-unity Foundation to give away turkeys for the holidays.
Among other things he’s done for the city, he is now getting formal recognition for those efforts.
Not only did he get the key to the city, but he also enjoys a day named for him.
50 Cent Day was declared, and it all went down at this year’s Thanksgiving Parade.
Sylvester Turner, the mayor of Houston, presented the 47-year-old rapper/actor/record producer/television executive with the honor at the pre-parade ceremony in the Texas metropolis.
Speaking about the hip-hop mogul, Turner said this –
“This is somebody who is a philanthropist, rapper, artist, businessperson — you name it. He used to live in another city up north but found his way down south. This is one person who is now a Houstonian. I want to thank him.
“He didn’t just come here to live; he has been helping out on so many causes in this city — especially in our high schools, turning our high school students into entrepreneurs with his G-Unity program. This city has been elevated because of his presence, and so today, we have the honor of saying to him, he’s our 2022 Grand Marshal.”
