The veteran rapper/songwriter – real name Ayub Bey – was a member of the ’80s hip-hop group, Juice Crew.
A longtime advocate for GDIU’s lyricist skills, legendary hip-hop producer Pete Rock made the revelation that the rapper died in his sleep.
Signed to the Cold Chillin’ label in the late 80s, Bey’s labelmates included Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, and Roxanne Shante.
Additionally, Biz Markie played a huge role in his early success.
He is credited with pushing his demo to the label, according to TMZ.
Also, Biz Markie produced every son on his debut album, 1990’s ‘Smooth Assassin’.
Among the hit songs on that project include ‘Sugar Free’ and ‘Something New’.
Grand Daddy I.U released his latest project, a single titled “Stay Fly” on July 2, 2021.
