The 65th Grammy’s Was Lit
Grammys Honored Hip Hop 50th Anniversary. The Hip Hop performance was the highlight of the show.
According to Rolling Stone, there was a 14-minute medley with the biggest hip-hop artists.
Legendary rappers such as, LL Cool J, Rev Run, and Queen Latifah lead the vocals.
Also, Chuck D, Flava Flav, Rakim, Busta Rhymes, Melle Mel, and Method Man lit up the stage.
Not to mention, new school rappers like Lil Baby, and GloRilla rapped, as reported by USA Today.
Additionally, Black Thought, Lil Wayne, and Salt-N-Pepa rocked the mic. It was one of the greatest performances in hip-hop.
We got to here short renditions of Run-DMC, “King of Rock.”
Not to mention, LL Cool J performed “I Can’t Live Without My Radio.”
De La Soul was part of this huge performance. Not only that, Scarface from the legendary rap group Geto Boys was there.
One of my favorite Southern rappers Big Boi performance was fire. Of course, Busta hit his tongue-twisting lyrics.
LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Busta Rhymes & More ROCK Grammys Hip Hop Tribute
To top it off, Missy Elliott belted out her hit “Lose Control.” Missy was nominated for the Song Writer’s Hall of Fame.
West Coast was represented as well. Too Short hit us up with “Blow the Whistle.”
Lil Uzi Vert gave a little bit of “Just Wanna Rock.”
Overall, it was one of the best performances at the Grammy’s.
Although, I wondered where the self-proclaimed King of The South rapper T.I. was at.
Where was, 50 Cent, Lil Kim, Trina, Uncle Luke, and Snoop.
As a I mentioned, a lot of hop-hop legends were not on stage. No doubt, there was not time or room for them all.
Especially since, so many hip-hop artists have contributed to the genre success.
Nevertheless, the performances were great. Did I forget to mention, Jay-Z was in the audience cheering them on.
Of course, Jay-Z performed on DJ Khalid’s song “God Did.” That was another great performance.
In fact, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, DJ Khalid all joined Jay on the song. All while, John Legend played the piano.
In my opinion, The Grammys out did themselves this year. In the past, the show left a lot to be desired.
For that reason, I stopped watching. But this year was different.
I almost forgot, Nelly performed“Hot In Herre.”
