Deb did not hold back her opinion when discussing issues with females in today’s hip-hop. Originality and talent have been left out of the equation.
And most of today’s female rappers keep perpetuating a stereotype about sex. This is problematic for young girls who emulate hip-hop more than anything.
It is disappointing to see young women rap about sex and wearing hardly any clothes. According to All HipHop, Deb has opened a Pandora’s box.
She pointed out that many female rappers today rely heavily on their looks and social media presence.
Rather than focusing on their craft and lyrical skills.

Especially since she understands the music industry very well. Although, some would say her former artist, Nicki Minaj, leads the pack in terms of her sexual content and attire.
Not that Nicki is the blueprint, but perhaps she did not make the issue better. If we look back at some of the iconic female rappers, there is an absence of sexual bravado.
Mcs like Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, and Monie Love were more conscious of their lyrical content. One of the other iconic rappers Lil Kim, may have started the trend in what we currently see today.
In other words, some of Lil Kim’s lyrics were very sexual. Therefore, the newcomers took that sort of rap to another level—and not in a good way.
So, it is essential when Deb Antney mentions this in her interview with Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur.
It is also alarming that many female artists prioritize fame and fortune over creating meaningful music. Naturally, her comments elicit mixed reactions; some agree with her assessment, and others do not.
