The Coachella Music Festival is one of the hottest tickets in California. Coachella is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The star-studded event showcases many rappers and singers from across the globe. And, allegedly DJ Envy took a page from Coachella’s model. However, naming his car event Carchella has cost him. DJ Envy is facing a lawsuit from Coachella.
Will DJ Envy Have To Pay Coachella Or Not?
RaaShaun Casey is better known as DJ Envy one of the hosts of “The Breakfast Club.” Has made quite a name for himself. The radio personality has managed to take his career to another level. The car show which DJ Envy has taken across the country has become very popular. A lot of celebrities put their luxury cars on display. In fact, famous rapper Curtis”50 Cent” Jackson displayed his very unique blue and yellow flashy car. Rapper Lil Baby showcased some of his luxurious cars 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, Rolls Royce, Cullinan Black Badge, Campagna T-Rex, Lamborghini Urus, and Mercedes – Benz G 800, as reported by BET.
Of course, these luxury cars that Lil Baby owns are worth millions. The McLaren is valued at at least $358,000. But Lil Baby is not the only rapper who showcased their luxury line of cars. Lil Kim, Lil Uzi Vert, French Montana, Fabolous, and many others showcased their cars at DJ Envy’s “Coachella” in Atlantic City in August. So, you can see that DJ Envy’s car show has become very popular.
Unfortunately, DJ Envy did not think about copyright infringement. Although Coachella is a music event, the name is too similar to go unnoticed. And, for this reason, the organizers behind Coachella are suing DJ Envy for trademark infringement, as reported by All Hip Hop. The lawsuit from Coachella is asking that DJ Envy use another name. If not, DJ Envy will be hauled into court. Coachella representatives mentioned that they also hold car exhibitions. Therefore, they have to protect their interest.
