Coco Gauff Drops Out Of The Tokyo Olympics

American tennis star Coco Gauff took to social media to announce that she will not be representing the United States at the Tokyo Olympics. The 17-year-old is disappointed, posting –

I am so disappointed to share the news that I have tested positive for COVID and won’t be able to play in the Olympic Games in Tokyo. I has always been a dream of mine to represent the USA in the Olympics, and I hope there will be many more chances for me to make this come true in the future.

Additionally, Gauff states that she wishes TEAM USA the best of luck and a safe game. She made that statement toward every Olympian and the entire Olympic family.

As reported by ESPN, Coco Gauff last played against Angelique Kerber at Wimbledon, where she lost in the 4th round. Currently ranked at No. 25 in the world of tennis, she was eagerly waiting for her chance to complete in this year’s Olympics.

Along with Jennifer Brady, Jessica Pegula, and Alison Riske, Gauff was slated to represent the USA in the women’s singles.

This news comes on the heels of several other athletes that have all come down with the virus.
