Earlier today we reported Simone Biles pulling out of the Tokyo gymnastic finals. It was first thought that Simon had suffered an injury. However, Simone spoke to the media. She revealed that it was her mental state.
Simone Explains: Her Mental State Was The Culprit
It took a lot of courage for Simone to withdraw from the Team USA competition. And, even though many will disagree, Simone did what was best for her and the team. The news reports that were first posted mentioned Simone was allegedly suffering from an injury. But Simone and her USA teammates held a press conference. During the interview, Simone spoke about why she decided to not compete. Here is what Simone shared;
“I didn’t want to go into any of the other events second-guessing myself,” Biles said. “So, I thought it would be better if I took a step back and let these girls go out there and do their job.”
Of course, this must have been an agonizing decision for Simone. It was on Monday Simone posted on social media her concerns. Obviously, the pressure was too much. Understandably so. After all, Simone has carried the pressure for a long time. Maybe some people may not understand why Simone decided not to compete. While others will sympathize with her.
Just imagine if the world was looking at you with a microscope. That kind of scrutiny can be difficult. Sadly, people would rather criticize Simone rather than celebrate her. Truthfully, Simone is the greatest gymnast in the world. Simone has accomplished more in her 24- years than most people do in a lifetime. We still do not know if Simone will compete in other routines. Simone mentioned she is taking it one day at a time. Hopefully, Simone will recover quickly.
