Lil Nas X made his way into the hearts of children all over America with his ‘Old Town Road‘ mega-hit featuring the father of Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus. For the most part, parents were consenting to his influence upon their impressionable children. Rapper Lil Nas X shocked the public, fans and non-fans alike, when he announced his baby (debut album, Montero) was on the way with a maternity photo shoot on Thursday (Sept. 2). Despite the polarizing nature of the shoot, Lil Nas X remains unfazed.
Lil Nas X, The Man, The Troll, The Controversy
The lap-dancing rapper selling satan shoes responded on Sept. 2 to Twitter users who expressed displeasure with the shoot, including one who called him “ugly” saying that she’s tired of him. “You really on here calling a young mother to be ugly?” Lil Nas trolled. The pole-dancing rapper retorted to the user (who later deleted her tweet), and wrote, “Oh yes a pregnant n—a, the greatest threat to black civil rights.”
Lil Nas X: 2-Steps Ahead of his Detractors
Lil Nas X clearly recognizes the irony of the backlash as a part-time troll.
“N—-s be like ‘you desperate for attention” then proceed to give it to me,” he said in another tweet. He finally said, “Let me get offline, all this negative energy is not good for the baby.”
In an interview with People, Lil Nas X revealed that the pregnancy photoshoot began as a harmless joke after he listened to Megan Thee Stallion’s verse on his “Dolla Sign Slime” for the first time.
Lil Nas X: The Child Favorite says It was Just a Joke
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is amazing,’ so I immediately called my stylist,” he said. “She was like, ‘Wow, this all comes together. Your album. Your baby.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, this is my baby, huh?’ As a joke, she was like, ‘Yeah, you should do a pregnancy shoot.’ “I was like, ‘You know what? That’s actually brilliant.'”
